Kim de l’Horizon

Kim de l’Horizon

Kim de l’Horizon, non-binary novelist and playwright, born in 1992 in Ostermundigen, Switzerland. The surname is an anagram of their real name and at the same time a kind of poetological act: rearranging the given letters, taking apart inherited material and finding new meaning within it. They studied German studies, film studies and theatre studies in Zürich and Bern, as well as creative writing in Biel, and in 2022 completed transdisciplinary studies. That same year, Kim de l’Horizon’s debut novel „Knjiga krvi“, which had been ten years in the making, was published. The work immediately attracted considerable attention: it was first awarded the German, and subsequently the Swiss prize for best novel. De l’Horizon thus became the first non-binary person to win both awards. „Knjiga krvi“ is at once a family story, an exploration of language, and a search for the possibility of finding one’s own way of being beyond prescribed identities and inherited patterns.
