Dorothy Cross
Dorothy Cross was born in Cork, Ireland, in 1956. Her work ranges from object to opera: working with sculpture and photography; it looks at time and transformation, and what may be considered sacred or maligned. Sharkskins gilded with pure gold, operas in handball alleys, feet carved in marble from around the world and kisses cast in silverntaken from the inside of two mouths. The work moves from gallery and museum to external projects that may take years to make and may only exist for a short time. Some recent exhibitions include: Veins of Other, Kerlin Gallery (2024); Damascus Rose, Frith Street Gallery (2022); Glance New Art Centre (2017); Connemara, Turner Contemporary (2013). She has represented Ireland in several biennials including Venice in 1993. Her work is in the collections of The Irish Museum of Modern
Art, Dublin; The National Gallery of Ireland: Tia Foundation, Santa Fe; and TATE Modern, London.
She is represented by Frith Street Gallery, London and Kerlin Gallery, Dublin.
