Dejan Aćimović
                        Dejan Aćimović was born in 1963 in Čapljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 1987, he has been involved in productions at the Zagreb Youth Theatre. He graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb in 1996. He has directed and produced three feature films—Je li jasno prijatelju? (Is It Clear, My Friend?), Moram spavat’, anđele (I Need to Sleep, Angel), and Anka—as well as seven documentaries: Hrabro i na rezultat (Bravely and for the Result), Kralj (The King), Priče kratkih rezova (Stories of Short Cuts), Mogu kao i ti (I Can Like You), PRVIH 50 (The First 50), PRVIH 60 (The First 60), and Dogodio se (He Happened). He has acted in more than 60 feature films and television series, as well as numerous theatre productions. As an actor, he has won awards at the Pula Film Festival (two Golden Arenas for Best Actor) and the Milano Film Festival (Grand Prix for Best Actor), and as a director at the Houston Film Festival, Munich Film Festival, Herceg Novi Film Festival, Vukovar Film Festival, Mediteran Film Festival, and Liburnia Film Festival, among others. He received the Charter of the City of Zagreb in 2013 for directing the documentary Kralj (The King). In 2008, the European Film Academy included Moram spavat’, anđele (I Need to Sleep, Angel) among the 30 best European films. The documentary Kralj (The King), about Croatian Paralympian Darko Kralj, European, World, and Paralympic champion and world record holder in shot put, was Croatia’s official submission for the Academy Awards in 2012.
