Fair(y)’s Regional Focus: Macedonia Reads
It is hard to live in political and economic crises, but the literary creation is of quality. One of many evidences of this statement is the contemporary Macedonian literary production which Croatian readers had the opportunity to meet through the best exported literature from Macedonia.
The Macedonia Reads program has no intention of balancing Croatian and Macedonian literature, rather to enable good contemporary Macedonian authors, irrelevant of the language - Macedonian or Albanian, to present their work and establish cooperation with Croatian authors, publishers and professional associations in order to shorten future cultural exchange between Croatia and Macedonia.
We believe a good political moment for that is now: Macedonia has stabilized, reactivated EU integration processes, while the current government and the Ministry of Culture led by the writer and publisher, Robert Alagjozovski, wants to leave the concept of mythologizing history and steer their culture to contemporary flows and trends – through both literature and other forms of creative industry as well. We’d like to host their representatives in Pula, at the Book Fair(y). Emir Imamović Pirke
