Damir Barbarić was born in 1952 in Zagreb, and received an education in humanities and classical languages, earning a PhD with a thesis on Plato’s laws as a philosophical foundation of politics. A prominent author, project manager at the Institute of Philosophy and an official in the administrative bodies of the Institute, teacher of philosophical courses at the University of Zagreb, he advocates for the promotion of philosophy in broader public. As a visiting professor, scholar and researcher he resided at European universities, published over 20 books and edited a series of collections and different editions. He translated from Greek, Latin and German.
